Spring Break is over

Well, I'm sad to say that spring break is now over with.. and it hardly feels like we had a week off. My mom got in Friday evening and I went and picked her up from the airport. We had a great time while she was here! I got my delicious Chick-fil-a for dinner Friday night and we relaxed at home that evening. The next day, we went hiking at Devil's Ice Box (that was the warmest day) with Beamer. The caves were unfortunately closed until April, but we still had a good time there. We found a GREAT mexican place really close to my house that has fantastic margartias and really great avocado/guacamole like appetizer!! We went back the next night just for that.
We took Beamer to the dog park the next morning and HE FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO SWIM!! He has always loved the water but has been to afraid to actually swim. He finally did it this week and I am so proud and happy! He had such a fun time and now I won't be able to keep him out of the water. I took mom to a great place here called Flat Branch she's been wanting to go to with friends.
Another great thing that came about this weekend is that I am getting mom hook on The Walking Dead! I'm so excited for her to finally be in a fandom that I love (which the season finale is tonight and I'm MISSING because I don't have cable... UGH.) So we watched basically the entire first season (which is only 6 episodes... but still). She's already almost half way through season 2 at home.
For the rest of break, I've gotten caught up on school work, worked on scholarships/applications, cleaned, did some pet-sitting, and hung out with my Beamer boy. I also have been helping out my roomie who tore her ACL at the SCAVMA convention I didn't go to... so that really sucks.
I entered Beamer in some trials at the beginning of May right after finals to compete for our RAE. Three straight trails in a weekend- should be busy and exhausting. Also I signed him up for agility classes starting in mid-April.
So, classes start back tomorrow and I'm not nearly ready. April is always a crazy month... we have Gentle Doctor Benefit this weekend I'm helping out with, Dog Jog that morning, Open House is next weekend, plus exams and school work to keep on top of (we have 3 exams this week...)
One last thing... Beamer had his birthday this week!! He is now 3 years old! I can't believe how much time flies. I love this boy; more than pretty much anything. He is my heart dog. I baked him a cake, took him back to the park for a swim, he got a new toy... such a spoiled man. I also did some crafts this week and made a 'brag board' to finally display all his ribbons he's won these past two years! It is so great to have them out in the open rather than shoved away in a bag in my closet. I just need to figure out how to hang it... Easier said than done. Here are a few pictures! That's it for this week.

Spring Break

This is a bit overdue of an update... a lot has been going on since finals have been over. Had a bit of a lax week right after that and then that weekend Beamer and I had our first Rally trial since we had moved out here to Missouri. It was great to finally be back in the game. We were going for our Rally Excellent title and actually managed to get all three legs in one weekend going 3/3! I was very proud of him! His jumping is getting better each time we go out, too!
We didn't place at all, which happens when we move from A to B (since he has earned his CD title- we have to compete in B now, which is with people who have been doing this for many more years than I have...). But we earned I think an 84, 83, and an 82 all weekend, which was perfect and consistent at least.
I did a heart and eye clinic on him while he was there- he passed his heart with flying colors which is great news. Something I wasn't expecting was him to fail his CERF eye exam. He has a juvenile cataract in his left eye... so that was unfortunate to find out... but also good to learn so we can keep an eye on it yearly. The vet who examined him said to stop by the vet school every year and she'll look at it for free for us (so nice of her to do). I really appreciated that.
Other that that, I learned to steward a conformation show... and had a great time that weekend. I was exhausted by the end, to stay the least.
So now I'm just taking a breather after a pretty tough week- 4 exams! 2 of which were anatomy, then developmental anatomy and finally this morning which was Immunology (somehow I managed to pull a 99 on... IDK how that happened but I'm pretty proud. I studied a lot for that since he kept staying people tend to not do well on it.)
I'm typing this up now since I'm waiting for it to be 3:30 so I can leave for the airport to pick up my mom! She's flying to to visit me for a long weekend and I am beyond excited! I haven't seen her since Christmas so it will be really great just to have her to myself for 4 days. She goes back on Tuesday...
I have the whole week off, though, which is fantastic! I have so much to get done... scholarships, meetings, I'm even pet-sitting the last weekend for someone through the kennel club.

Here are just some pictures to finish up from the trial of Beamer and I getting his ribbons! Well deserved, he's such a good boy! We are going for our RAE starting in May- which means we have to get 10 legs EACH of Rally Advanced and Excellent B to earn our title. He really likes to do Rally so we will keep on!
