This is my 50th blog post for this blog... very exciting!
Not too much has been happening since I last updated. Mom had a good visit and I miss her already. We had margaritas, made Buffett hats, watched the Jimmy Buffett concert live while eating/drinking, went out for great food/drinks at Las Margaritas, went to the pool, went to Devil's icebox into the cave... we had fun. We are super close and I always love seeing her. It stinks being so far away- I won't get to see her again until Thanksgiving it seems like, which is a huge bummer.
I started my research, and I have to say, I am not really enjoying it. Sometimes I stay busy, and that is good. Other times, I am just hanging around not doing anything. I'm dealing with contamination issues (as is the PhD student I'm working with, so at least I'm not alone) and it is frustrating. I haven't even started working on my actual project due to this... just gotten the samples together for it.
On the upside, I love being able to go home and not have anything else to do (aka not having to study). I've been able to read a lot lately- I finished up A Clash of Kings and now I'm onto A Storm of Swords in the ASoIaF series. Really enjoying them 100x more after watching the show (rather than trying to read them before).
This past week or so has been nice... and pretty boring at the same time. Most of my friends are out of town, including both my roommates, so I've been a bit down and lonely (though, it is nice to have the place to myself for a bit).
Fenway is doing pretty well. He is now 15 weeks and just lost his first two incisors yesterday. He's growing up and losing that puppy coat. Just two more puppies classes then he graduates onto normal obedience class. Beamer is doing great with agility class. We've gotten the weaves pretty well, working on the teeter (improving), but I need to get him excited over jumping, which he isn't.
So, that's been my summer so far. In 2 weeks, I'll be in San Diego with my people at SDCC. I cannot wait to escape CoMo for a few days and just be at this wonderful place... make new friends... buy lots of wonderful things. I'm super pumped. It's going to be great!
