It's been awhile...

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. A lot has been doing on, lately, with school and my personal life. Well, I can finally say that I'm officially a VM-2 now! Finals went alright and we all survived to our second year! I managed to get what I wanted to and I'm coming out with a pretty decent GPA after year 1. Just need to keep it up during my second year. I'm now in block 5, which is notoriously said to be an easy block- we are 3 weeks in (and just going into an almost 4 day weekend) and LOVING this block. Classes get out fairly early most days, plenty of time to come home and be caught up, take Beamer on a walk/hike, and sometimes even just marathon a TV show or play video games! Since Anatomy is done, it's just so nice not to have 4 hours 4 times a week in lab plus having to go in extra for an upcoming exam. This week has been fairly exhausting with 3 exams in a row (two at 7am, might I add) but I came out more than alright. Oh, I guess I should mention that we are now starting General Pathology, in part 2 of Immunology, Genomics, and Bacteriology. Just 5 more weeks until we get a break for summer (which is apparently 7 weeks long!) And then I start my research program full-time (working right now to get it started/learning the basics).

Beamer and I had a successful weekend after finals showing, which was a bad decision to sign up for... I was SO exhausted having to be there at 8am all weekend. But, it was worth it since we earned three legs towards our RAE title! He was a bit distracted, but it was in the same place we did training and his instructor was one of the stewards... I think that had something to do with it. So he Q'd in both Rally Excellent and Rally Advanced twice Saturday and once Sunday (and even managed a 4th place on Sunday against some top dogs who were earning perfect scores.) I'm very proud of him- we just need to earn 7 more legs towards that title. We also started Agility classes and Beamer has really been enjoying them. He's doing really well with everything- we need the most work with the weave poles and now probably the teeter. So, we are going to sign up for the same class again and do more work this summer.

The personal side of my life has been a few years coming- I have been calling myself bisexual for a few years since I know I'm attracted to women, but only these past few months do I realize now I don't really have any attraction for men. So, needless to say, I'm pretty sure I'm gay. I've been coming to terms with it this past week or two and it has been going well. I've talked with my roommates, friends, and finally told my mom. Everyone took it well and no shock (of course, everyone already thought I was bisexual before). The real challenge is going to be telling the rest of my family (my father being the hardest). It is easier since we are apart, so that will help a lot. And, he's also got his wife, too, and she's super nice... I think it'll be easier with her there, too.
Not only that, but there is someone in my class I've been crushing pretty hard on these past few weeks. She's a really wonderful person and it is a shame I haven't gotten to know her quite yet. But we've been on a walk together once with our dogs so far and now we are going to go on Monday (our day off) and I'm going to ask her out. Fingers crossed it is going to go well, because I've fallen pretty hard for her.
